Though the king sadly passed away before it was completed, his loyal brother continued the work — fulfilling a vision that would shape generations.

Ruwanwelisaya is believed to house relics of Lord Buddha, including the largest collection in the world. That’s why thousands of pilgrims come here every month — walking barefoot around the stupa, offering white lotus flowers, lighting oil lamps, and meditating in peace.
